Job summary

The Bike Shop at Harris School of Public Policy within The University of Chicago seeks a strategic, entrepreneurial technology leader to shape software, data, and AI capabilities. As the senior technical leader, you will set the technical vision, guide system architecture, and establish engineering practices across all Shop-built systems.

You will build and lead the Shop’s engineering function, including hiring top talent, developing standards, and managing budgets, forecasts, and investments.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
• Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, or quantitative discipline is preferred.
• 7+ years of work experience leading technical teams or functions.

Responsibilities

• Owns end-to-end architecture of Shop systems and cloud platform.
• Leads applied AI/ML engineering aligned to Shop priorities.
• Manages engineering team, budgets, and vendor contracts.
