Northeastern University seeks a visionary Professor of the Practice & Director for the Engineering Design Program in Oakland. This founding leader will launch and scale an AI-enabled, human-centered undergraduate program, partnering with industry to provide real-world projects and co-ops, and building a sustainable, revenue-generating model.

Qualifications

• PhD in engineering or a closely related field is required.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in academic program leadership, industry partnership management, or workforce development within engineering or technical higher education.
• Experience designing, launching, or reforming engineering education programs with experiential/AI-integrated learning is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute annual strategic plans for the BS in Engineering Design program.
• Oversee program launch and long-term growth, curriculum innovation, and academic excellence.
• Establish and maintain a portfolio of industry partnerships across project sponsorship, curriculum co-development, and talent pipelines.
• Oversee co-op placements and experiential learning to ensure meaningful industry-embedded experiences.
• Direct program operations including enrollment, budgeting, and technology systems.
