Job summary

Sunday is seeking a Director of Engineering in Boulder, CO or Remote to lead a close-knit team through a pivotal moment, shaping technical vision, AI-native product direction, and org-building. You will be hands-on, coding, and partnering with Product to translate business goals into an engineering roadmap.

You'll own AI strategy, oversee architecture, hiring, and delivery metrics, and ensure the team ships high-quality software while growing engineers and maintaining velocity.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering at a small-to-mid-size or growth-stage company.
• Hands-on builder who writes code and shapes product, not solely managing.
• Credibility with senior engineers and ability to dive into the codebase.
• Experience with AI-native product development and AI eval tooling.
• Front-end depth or ability to grow it across a team.
• Experience building org structure, hiring processes.
• Strong collaboration with Product and leadership.
• Humility and directness with the ability to give feedback.

Responsibilities

• Lead and set technical vision and a 6–12 month roadmap.
• Own AI strategy and agentic development across the org.
• Oversee architecture decisions and infrastructure maturity.
• Lead hiring and People initiatives; ensure mentorship and growth.
• Deliver against roadmap with engineering metrics and velocity.
• Collaborate closely with Product as a true partner.
• Represent engineering in company leadership discussions.
