Job summary

Metric DCX in Colorado is seeking an experienced engineering leader to head an established function responsible for developing our next generation of critical power technologies. You will guide a multidisciplinary team through design, prototyping, validation and production, focusing on power conversion, batteries, and energy storage.

The role requires 10+ years in engineering and 5+ years in leadership, with a strong background in electrical power systems and hardware development.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience.
  • 5+ years managing or leading engineering teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience developing commercial hardware products within power electronics, batteries or energy storage.
  • Strong knowledge across power conversion, BMS, ESS, high-voltage electrical systems, embedded/digital controls or thermal management.
  • Experience taking new hardware technologies through design, testing and into production.
  • Experience leading complex engineering programs involving multiple technical disciplines.
  • Strong people leadership with the ability to develop both senior and junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of power electronic architectures, controls, battery systems and associated electrical technologies.
  • Direct technical work involving BMS, high-voltage systems, embedded controls, magnetics and power semiconductor technologies.
  • Identify technologies that can improve future products in areas such as efficiency, reliability, energy density, safety and thermal performance.
  • Establish common engineering architectures across multiple products.
  • Work closely with mechanical, embedded, systems, manufacturing, testing and regulatory teams.
  • Assess technical challenges early and establish clear plans to resolve design, performance and safety risks.
  • Develop the engineering organization through hiring, coaching, performance management and succession planning.
  • Help determine where the business should invest in new technologies and engineering capabilities.

Job description

Background

We are looking for an experienced engineering leader with a strong foundation in electrical engineering and power technology.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • 10+ years of engineering experience.
  • 5+ years managing or leading engineering teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience developing commercial hardware products within power electronics, batteries or energy storage.
  • Strong knowledge across several areas including power conversion, BMS, ESS, high-voltage electrical systems, embedded/digital controls or thermal management.
  • Experience taking new hardware technologies through design, testing and into production.

An advanced engineering degree focused on power electronics, electrical energy systems or a related discipline would be beneficial but is not essential.

Package

Base Salary: Up to $220,000

Additional Compensation: Annual bonus + equity
