Job summary

Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation seeks a Director, Employee/Labor Relations & Leaves to lead enterprise strategies for ER, LR, and leave/accommodation programs. Reports to VP HR, guiding governance, policy design, and risk mitigation in a complex 24/7 environment.

Responsibilities include developing scalable operating models, negotiating labor strategy, ensuring lawful investigations, and driving data-driven improvements while aligning with tribal values and business objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Legal Studies, Psychology, or related field is required.
• JD from an accredited law school is highly desirable, particularly with a concentration in labor and employment law.
• Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience in employee relations, labor relations, and leave management; five (5) years in a senior labor/ER role in a large organization.
• Minimum seven (7) years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Designs and scales enterprise employee relations, labor relations, and leave functions with governance, standards, and processes.
• Develops multi-year roadmaps with mission, scope, metrics, and maturity targets for each discipline.
• Oversees policies, investigations standards, due process, and dispute resolution for fairness and legal defensibility.
• Leads labor relations activities including union engagement, bargaining preparation, contract interpretation, and grievance handling.
• Partners on employment law compliance with Legal, Compliance, and external counsel; mitigates regulatory risk.
• Establishes enterprise KPIs, dashboards, and data-driven continuous improvement across programs.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Legal Studies, Psychology, or related field

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school (desirable)
