This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who understands the complete eCommerce product lifecycle—from assortment strategy and product information to digital merchandising, customer experience, analytics, and conversion.

The Director of eCommerce will work closely with Purchasing, Marketing, Customer Experience, Analytics, and other key teams to identify opportunities, build effective merchandising strategies, and create a seamless digital shopping experience for our customers.

If you enjoy combining strategy, data, merchandising, technology, and team leadership to drive measurable business results, this could be an exciting opportunity to make an impact at CSSI.

What You’ll Do

As Director of eCommerce, you will:

  • Lead, develop, and manage our Digital Merchandising and Product Information teams, building a high-performing team focused on accuracy, innovation, and customer experience.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive annual eCommerce merchandising strategy designed to achieve revenue and gross margin objectives.
  • Partner with Purchasing to identify sales opportunities based on product availability, market demand, product lifecycle, inventory levels, and category performance.
  • Use eCommerce analytics, market observations, and customer behavior to provide insight into product assortment and anticipated demand.
  • Create compelling digital merchandising strategies around new product launches, seasonal categories, special buys, promotions, and other key selling opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Digital Marketing to determine the best channels and strategies for promoting merchandising opportunities.
  • Develop merchandising experiences using website content, personalization, product recommendations, search, catalogs, customer data, and other digital touchpoints.
  • Utilize A/B testing and eCommerce analytics to evaluate performance, improve conversion, and continuously optimise the customer journey.
  • Develop and execute effective cross-sell and up-sell strategies in collaboration with Purchasing.
  • Monitor competitor and industry activity and develop responsive merchandising strategies that capitalize on market opportunities.
  • Partner with Customer Experience to recommend improvements to website functionality, navigation, search, product sorting, faceted navigation, and other features that influence conversion and retention.
  • Develop and oversee workflows and standards for creating, enriching, maintaining, and auditing product information.
  • Oversee the company's Product Information Management (PIM) system, including configuration, data governance, product enrichment, data quality, and business‑team support.
  • Establish standards for product naming conventions, attributes, taxonomy, product display, and overall information quality.
  • Use data and analytics to measure digital merchandising performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure our digital merchandising strategies consistently represent the CSSI brand and deliver an engaging, dependable customer experience across digital touchpoints.
What We’re Looking For

Our ideal candidate is a collaborative, data-driven leader who can see both the big picture and the details required to execute it. You should be comfortable working across multiple departments, translating data into action, and balancing customer experience with revenue, margin, inventory, and business objectives.

Successful candidates will bring experience in areas such as:

  • eCommerce leadership and digital merchandising
  • Product assortment and merchandising strategy
  • eCommerce analytics and conversion optimisation
  • Digital marketing channels and customer acquisition
  • Product Information Management (PIM) systems
  • Product data governance, taxonomy, and enrichment
  • Website search, navigation, personalization, and product recommendations
  • A/B testing and performance measurement
  • Cross-functional leadership and collaboration

  • Revenue, margin, inventory, and category performance
Why CSSI?

At Chattanooga Shooting Supplies, Inc., you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of a critical area of our business and work alongside teams across Marketing, Purchasing, Customer Experience, Analytics, and Operations.

We’re looking for a leader who wants to do more than maintain an eCommerce operation—we want someone who can identify opportunities, challenge the status quo, develop people, improve the customer experience, and help drive the future growth of CSSI.
