Job summary

The Samaritans Cape Cod and the Islands seeks a strategic, relationship-centered Director of Development to strengthen philanthropic support for our suicide prevention and bereavement services.

Reporting to the Executive Director, this is SCCI’s first Development Director, with responsibility to build a disciplined, sustainable fundraising program in partnership with the Board, staff, donors, and community.

Qualifications

• Nonprofit fundraising success with proven revenue growth.
• Experience securing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships.
• Strong writing and speaking skills for donor proposals and impact messaging.
• Ability to work with Executive Director, Board, volunteers, and donors.
• Familiarity with donor databases and ethical fundraising.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive annual development plan with goals and revenue targets.
• Build and manage a portfolio of individual, foundation, corporate, and donor prospects.
• Solicit and steward donors; strengthen retention and unrestricted support.
• Oversee grant proposals and sponsorship materials with program and finance teams.
• Develop corporate sponsorships and community partnerships; assess events for revenue potential.
• Equip Board members to identify, cultivate, and solicit donors.
• Maintain donor data, gift processing, acknowledgement, and reporting.
• Provide regular fundraising reports to the Executive Director and Board.
• Move toward self-sustaining revenue by the end of year two.
