Job summary

The Mental Wellness Center in Santa Barbara, CA, seeks a Director of Development & Communications to lead fundraising, donor relations, and external communications. This leadership role blends strategy and hands-on work, including annual giving campaigns, events, grant coordination, and donor communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum five years of nonprofit fundraising, development, or philanthropy experience.
• Strong knowledge of donor stewardship, annual giving, sponsorships, campaigns, and philanthropic best practices.
• Proficiency with DonorPerfect, Canva or comparable software.

Responsibilities

• Develop fundraising strategies with organizational leadership and translate goals into plans.
• Diversify philanthropic revenue and strengthen fundraising systems.
• Manage department priorities and lead staff, consultants, interns, and volunteers.
• Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations, and partners.
• Coordinate donor meetings, tours, and stewardship communications.
• Lead annual giving campaigns, year-end appeals, online fundraising, sponsorships, and special initiatives.
• Coordinate grant applications and reporting with internal teams.
• Oversee events, donor cultivation activities, and sponsorship fulfillment.
• Develop donor communications highlighting the organization’s mission and impact.
• Prepare fundraising reports and dashboards for leadership and Board.
