Job summary

ExcelliSearch, Inc. seeks a Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Technology to lead CNC manufacturing, process development, tooling design, and shop-floor problem solving. The role combines hands-on engineering on the shop floor with driving automation and AI-enabled modernization.

The successful candidate will develop the manufacturing roadmap, lead the engineering team, and collaborate across operations to deliver improved productivity, quality, and delivery.

Qualifications

• Significant manufacturing engineering experience in a CNC machining environment.
• Experience developing manufacturing processes from engineering drawings through production.
• Strong knowledge of CNC programming, machining practices, cutting tools, workholding, and fixture design.
• Ability to troubleshoot shop-floor issues and guide corrective actions.
• Experience interpreting drawings, GD&T, and complex manufacturing requirements.
• Proven success leading manufacturing improvements with measurable results.
• Experience implementing digital manufacturing tools, CNC connectivity, automation, or modernization initiatives.
• Practical experience evaluating or implementing AI applications in manufacturing workflows.
• Experience leading technical teams while maintaining hands-on involvement.
• Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on manufacturing engineering leadership: develop routings, sequences, setups, tooling, fixtures, and work instructions.
• Provide direct technical support for CNC programming, setups, machining issues, and troubleshooting.
• Lead tooling and fixture design, development, selection, and implementation.
• Collaborate with machinists, programmers, production leaders, and quality to resolve problems.
• Improve cycle times, tool life, process capability, throughput, and consistency.
• Support new product introduction and transition to stable production.
• Ensure processes meet drawings, tolerances, quality, and customer requirements.
• Develop and execute a modernization roadmap for CNC operations.
• Digitize CNC operations: machine connectivity, data collection, program management, digital work instructions.
• Identify AI applications to improve efficiency and performance.
• Evaluate new equipment and technologies based on business value.
• Turn improvements into sustained results through implementation and training.
• Lead and develop the engineering team with hands-on involvement.
• Balance daily production support with long-term improvement projects.
