Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a Business Development Director to lead the Civic + Justice Architecture practice in California.

You will grow the regional portfolio by creating and winning new business with civic organizations, collaborating with national leaders, and elevating the HDR brand at industry events. You’ll manage client relationships, mentor emerging leaders, contribute to proposal strategy and interview presentations, and travel to engage with clients in person.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years relevant industry experience.
• Self-starter with history of completing projects with limited oversight.
• Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry's procurement of professional services.
• Ability to motivate and inspire others.
• Ability to build a network of clients and industry partners.
• Sales experience and win strategy development.
• Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office applications.
• Willingness to travel and engage in person.
• Experience in growing programs in new or highly competitive markets.
• Experience in winning high-value contracts in the A/E/C industry.

Responsibilities

• Grow Civic + Justice architecture practice regionally.
• Develop and win new business with civic organizations and related institutions.
• Support HDR's marketing and business development efforts to win business, including proposal strategy, proposal writing and interview presentations.
• Elevate and represent the HDR brand across the region by attending conferences and other professional business events.
• Cross mentoring Civic + Justice Principals and mentoring emerging leaders interested in client development, business development, and pursuit strategy.
• Help keep our staff sharp, trained and effective for client development and interview requirements.
