Job summary

HDR, a leading architecture firm, is seeking a Business Development Director to join the Civic + Justice practice, guiding growth across local and regional markets in California.

You will collaborate with regional and national leaders to win high-value contracts through strategic proposals, client engagement, interview presentations and a clear growth plan, while traveling as needed and strengthening HDR’s brand.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of relevant industry experience.
• Self-starter with a record of completing projects with limited oversight.
• Deep knowledge of procurement in A/E/C professional services.
• Proven ability to motivate and inspire others.
• Strong client networking and relationship-building skills.
• Experience in sales and developing win strategies.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to travel and engage with others in-person.

Responsibilities

• Grow Civic + Justice programs in local and regional markets.
• Lead client engagement and collaborate with project and regional leadership.
• Identify opportunities, pursue requirements, and increase market awareness.
• Support proposal strategy, writing, and interview presentations.
• Represent HDR at conferences and professional events.
