Join Our Team as Director of Catering at Sheraton Baltimore North

Exciting opportunity to become part of Sheraton Baltimore North as our Director of Catering. Our hotel features 283 rooms and over 20,000 sq ft of event space. We are currently undergoing a significant $8.5 million renovation. If you are passionate about catering sales, apply today!

The Director of Catering and Convention Services will oversee all aspects of our profit and service-driven Catering and Convention Services Department. Responsibilities include supervising the catering and convention services teams, and maintaining the accuracy and effectiveness of all written communications such as contracts, proposals, Banquet Event Orders, forecasts, and daily reports.

This position is bonus-eligible.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain training programs for Catering Sales and Conference Services staff.
• Manage personnel functions including interviewing, evaluating, reviewing, and disciplining staff.
• Conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
• Assign duties to team members to ensure efficient department operations and coverage.
• Solicit new accounts and review past contracts and reports to generate business.
• Prepare compelling proposals, negotiate, and finalize contracts.
• Ensure timely and accurate Banquet Event Orders.
• Lead Banquet Event Order meetings with relevant teams.
• Log information into Sales CRM according to SOPs.
• Develop weekly, monthly, and annual forecasts.
• Assist in setting beverage minimums, room rental schedules, and upselling benchmarks.
• Enhance revenue through rental, food, beverage minimums, and upselling initiatives.
• Manage event timelines from contract signing to post-event wrap-up.
• Collaborate with Culinary team on menus and signature items.
• Maintain communication with setup, AV, sales, and management teams.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• At least three years of DOC experience, preferably in a hotel setting.
• College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Strong interpersonal skills and client interaction experience.
• Coaching and people development skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Creative mindset; Marriott experience is a plus.

Compensation

$75,000 - $85,000 annually
