We are seeking an onsite Director of Business Office in Greenville, NC.

In partnership with ECU Health Behavioral Health Hospital, Acadia is establishing a new, state-of-the-art, two-story, 144-bed behavioral health hospital in Greenville, NC, opening Summer 2025. This facility will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including GME and residency programs in psychiatry and internal medicine for ECU Health’s Brody School of Medicine, supporting diverse mental health needs.

What would you do in this role?

Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and supervise business office activities, including financial counseling, billing, and collections across all service lines.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report key metrics such as cash collections, days outstanding, unbilled, denials, and daily census in collaboration with the CFO.
  • Establish and maintain controls for all cash collected and posted in the patient accounting system.
  • Maintain effective communication with third-party insurance carriers to resolve issues affecting cash flow and patient satisfaction.
  • Manage staff including hiring, development, training, performance management, and communication to ensure effective department operation.
  • Ensure compliance with third-party guidelines through effective communication with leadership.
  • Select, monitor, and review outside collection vendors, approve invoices, and ensure timely collections to meet financial goals.
  • Lead operational directives for all business office activities related to claims management and collections.
  • Define and support departmental goals and objectives.
  • Review statistical reports to identify trends, operational deficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Utilization Review and Admissions staff for proper insurance authorization.
  • Manage and direct subordinate staff to meet goals and objectives.

Other Functions:

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ relevant experience, preferably in behavioral health.
  • At least three years’ supervisory experience required.
  • Strong revenue cycle technical skills required.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to a vehicle as required.
