We are seeking an onsite Director of Business Office in Greenville, NC.

In partnership with ECU Health Behavioral Health Hospital, Acadia Healthcare is establishing a state-of-the-art, two-story, 144-bed behavioral health hospital in Greenville, NC, opening in Summer 2025. This facility will expand access to high-quality psychiatric care, offering inpatient and outpatient services, and will host GME and residency programs in psychiatry and internal medicine for ECU Health’s Brody School of Medicine, enhancing behavioral health education and training. The center will serve adults, seniors, children, and adolescents facing mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and co-occurring disorders.

What would you do in this role?

Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and supervise business office activities, including financial counseling, billing, and collections across all service lines.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report on key metrics such as cash collections, days outstanding, unbilled amounts, denials, and daily census in collaboration with the CFO.
  • Establish and maintain controls for all cash collected and posted in the patient accounting system.
  • Communicate effectively with third-party insurance carriers to resolve issues affecting cash flow and patient satisfaction.
  • Manage staff including hiring, development, training, performance management, and communication to ensure departmental effectiveness.
  • Ensure third-party compliance guidelines are met through effective communication with leadership.
  • Select, monitor, and review outside collection vendors; approve agency invoices.
  • Lead operational directives related to claims management and receivable collections to meet financial goals.
  • Define and support departmental goals and objectives.
  • Review statistical reports to identify trends, operational deficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Utilization Review and Admissions staff to ensure proper insurance authorization.
  • Manage and direct subordinate staff to achieve departmental goals.

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ relevant experience, preferably in behavioral health.
  • At least three years’ supervisory experience required.
  • Strong revenue cycle technical skills required.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to a vehicle if required by the facility.
