Position: Onsite Director of Business Office

Location: Greenville, NC

In partnership with ECU Health Behavioral Health Hospital, Acadia is establishing a new 144-bed behavioral health hospital in Greenville, NC, scheduled to open in Summer 2025. The facility will offer inpatient and outpatient services, host GME and residency programs, and serve diverse mental health needs, including acute conditions like anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and co-occurring disorders.

Role Responsibilities

What would you do in this role?

Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and supervise business office activities, including financial counseling, billing, and collections across all service lines.

Essential Functions
  • Monitor and report key metrics such as cash collections, days outstanding, unbilled, denials, and daily census in coordination with the CFO.
  • Establish and maintain controls for all cash collections and postings in the patient accounting system.
  • Communicate effectively with third-party insurance carriers to resolve issues impacting cash flow and patient satisfaction.
  • Manage staff, including hiring, development, training, performance management, and communication.
  • Ensure compliance with third-party guidelines through effective communication with leadership.
  • Select, monitor, and review outside collection vendors, approve invoices, and reconcile reports.
  • Lead operational activities related to claims management and receivables collection, supporting financial goals.
  • Define and support departmental goals and objectives.
  • Review statistical reports to identify trends, operational deficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Utilization Review and Admissions teams to ensure proper insurance authorization.
Other Functions
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ relevant experience, preferably in behavioral health.
  • At least three years’ supervisory experience required.
  • Strong revenue cycle technical skills required.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to a vehicle if required by the facility.
