Job summary

Talisman is building a scalable portfolio of BESS and solar-plus-storage assets in the United States. This role oversees commercial and technical health, starting with a comprehensive audit of offtake, tolling, and interconnection obligations, then expanding to full asset management, compliance, and performance oversight.

The role requires hands-on BESS expertise, experience with LTSAs and merchant hedges, and a track record in merchant power markets.

Qualifications

• 3+ years managing BESS assets commercially.
• Experience with offtake, interconnection, tolling, O&M, LTSAs, and merchant hedge structures.
• Technical grounding in BESS systems and codes (NFPA 855, UL 9540A).

Responsibilities

• Manage offtake, tolling, and other commercial contracts across a growing BESS and solar-plus-storage portfolio, protecting value and compliance.
• Administer LTSAs, O&M, and interconnection agreements, covering performance tracking, invoicing, and warranty claims.
• Apply hands-on BESS hardware expertise to guide maintenance with OEM and O&M partners.
• Drive merchant market participation and revenue optimization, and lead commercial diligence on new agreements and acquisitions.
• Own performance reporting and risk assessment for the portfolio, with a path to build a dedicated asset management function.

A fast-growing, well-capitalized independent power producer (IPP) developing and operating utility-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) assets across the U.S. Its operating footprint keeps expanding through organic development and targeted M&A, with a substantial pipeline pointing to continued growth.

About the Role

This role owns the commercial and technical health of a scaling BESS and solar-plus-storage portfolio. It starts with a deep audit of every offtake, tolling, and interconnection obligation, then grows into full ownership of BESS operations, compliance, and performance, with a path to building and leading a dedicated asset management function.

Responsibilities

• Manage offtake, tolling, and other commercial contracts across a growing BESS and solar-plus-storage portfolio, protecting value and compliance.
• Administer LTSAs, O&M, and interconnection agreements, covering performance tracking, invoicing, and warranty claims.
• Apply hands-on BESS hardware expertise (cells, modules, PCS/inverters, BMS/EMS, thermal management, fire suppression) to guide maintenance with OEM and O&M partners.
• Drive merchant market participation and revenue optimization, and lead commercial diligence on new agreements and acquisitions.
• Own performance reporting and risk assessment for the portfolio, with a clear path to build and lead a dedicated BESS asset management function.

Qualifications

• 3+ years managing BESS assets commercially, through asset management, origination, or a similar ownership role.
• Experience with offtake, interconnection, tolling, O&M, LTSAs, and merchant hedge structures such as TB2 swaps.
• Technical grounding in BESS systems: battery chemistry, cell/module architecture, PCS/inverters, BMS/EMS, thermal management, and codes like NFPA 855 and UL 9540A.
• Track record in merchant power markets and ISO participation, translating technical performance data into commercial decisions.
• Strong negotiation skills and comfort collaborating across engineering, trading, legal, and operations; background in engineering, finance, or business, graduate degree a plus.
