POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Commercial Asset Manager will be responsible for maximizing the financial and operational performance of our distributed energy portfolio, which includes solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) assets. This role requires expertise in financial management, contract administration, revenue optimization, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in enhancing asset value, ensuring contract execution, and driving portfolio profitability through strategic oversight and cross-functional collaboration.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Financial Operations and Revenue Management
  1. Oversee PPA invoicing, EMS subscription revenue, and Asset Management service revenue, ensuring accuracy and consistency in billing processes.
  2. Develop and maintain financial models, operating budgets, and cash flow projections to track asset performance and optimize returns.
  3. Manage Operations & Maintenance (O&M) budgets in collaboration with the O&M team.
  4. Lead REC trading strategies and revenue optimization initiatives, ensuring compliance with market regulations.
  5. Oversee financial accounting and reporting to maintain portfolio financial health.
  6. Administer property insurance policies and lease agreements, ensuring risk mitigation and policy compliance.
2. Commercial Operations and Contract Management
  1. Manage and execute grid service contracts, including participation in demand response, capacity, and frequency regulation markets.
  2. Administer EMS subscription services, contract management, and revenue tracking.
  3. Maintain a contract management system, ensuring agreements comply with financial, regulatory, and operational requirements.
  4. Oversee the CDG subscriber management process, ensuring seamless customer onboarding and revenue collection.
  5. Lead internal approval workflows, system administration, and regulatory filings for incentives such as SGIP, SMART, and other incentive programs.
3. Stakeholder Management and Reporting
  1. Develop and maintain revenue-focused dashboards in Power BI, providing clear insights into asset performance and financial KPIs.
  2. Prepare and present financial and operational reports to senior management, investors, and external stakeholders.
  3. Collaborate with technical teams to align financial, operational, and performance reporting across the portfolio.
  4. Lead incentive reporting and compliance monitoring for state and federal renewable energy programs.
  5. Foster strong relationships with regulators, utilities, investors, and corporate partners to support business growth and asset performance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Master’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in commercial asset management, preferably in renewable energy.
  3. Extensive experience in financial modeling, analysis, and PPA structures.
  4. Strong understanding of renewable energy markets, REC trading, and grid services.
  5. Experience with SAP, QuickBooks, and financial reporting tools.
  6. Proficiency in data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) for portfolio analytics.
  7. In-depth knowledge of solar PV, energy storage systems (BESS), and regulatory frameworks impacting the industry.
  8. Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and cross-team collaboration.
