Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to lead the Automation & Controls team and partner with engineering to drive continuous improvement across manufacturing facilities. This role provides strategic input to the capital planning process and ensures alignment with innovation and manufacturing optimization initiatives.

Responsibilities include managing functional scope, coordinating with IT, R&D, and operations teams, guiding project execution from development to deployment,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
• Proven leadership experience managing teams.
• Proven relationship building and development of partnerships.
• Working knowledge of CAD, HMI development, PLCs, G-Suite and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to manufacturing facilities' 3 & 5 year capital plans.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, and R&D to integrate Automation and Controls initiatives.
• Manage all financial responsibilities: capital projects, budget, and reporting.
• Oversee engineering practices and ensure documentation for controls systems.
• Provide leadership and promote a collaborative, customer-focused environment with ongoing education on emerging technologies.
