Job summary

South College in Knoxville seeks a Director of Assessment to lead cross-institutional assessment efforts. This full-time role plans, organizes, and manages assessment of student learning outcomes across programs and departments.

The position requires a Master’s degree (Doctorate preferred) and typically at least three years coordinating academic assessment. Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in education, research methodology, statistics or closely related field; Doctorate preferred.
• Minimum of three years coordinating academic assessment, competency-based assessment, and/or prior learning assessment in higher education.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, evaluate, monitor, and oversee the assessment process for student learning outcomes across degree programs, service departments, and institutional goals.
• Analyze current assessment processes to improve institutional effectiveness.
• Stay informed on national trends in assessment and institutional research; apply insights to planning.
• Promote institutional effectiveness through planning, assessment and use of findings for improvement.
• Provide guidance to leadership and collaborate with academic and administrative areas.
• Develop and implement strategic plans and assessment reports with appropriate learning outcomes.
• Analyze data and monitor improvement initiatives across units.
• Lead the implementation of institutional effectiveness processes and reporting.
• Offer training on assessment to faculty and staff and support college personnel.
• Participate in service activities contributing to campus community and scholarship.
