Job summary

Humana is seeking a Director of AI Engineering to lead strategy, architecture, and delivery of enterprise-scale agentic AI capabilities within Humana's AI platform. This leader will drive foundational services enabling rapid building, deployment, and scaling of AI solutions across business domains.

The role combines deep AI/ML engineering expertise with proven leadership to influence enterprise AI strategy, partner with senior technology leaders, and set the technical vision to accelerate

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Ph.D. or Master’s) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proficiency with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), Python, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of AI engineers building foundational services, frameworks, and tools for agentic AI applications, enabling scalable development.
• Stay current with generative AI trends and help the team apply them effectively.
• Drive cross-functional alignment with enterprise architecture, security, data engineering, DevOps, and application leads.
• Mentor and coach AI engineers, fostering experimentation, humility, and excellence.
• Ensure strong engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and incident response.
• Define and drive strategic plans, goals, and team performance aligned with enterprise agentic AI initiatives.
• Collaborate with application teams to design reusable components, LLM orchestration, evaluation pipelines, and observability.
• Solve highly complex problems with long-term impact.
