Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director of AI Engineering to lead the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team. You will shape platform-level AI infrastructure, ML model access, routing, observability, and cost management behind a single governed interface.

You will collaborate with engineers, researchers, PMs, and architects to deliver AI-powered products, evaluate make-vs-buy decisions, and drive scalable, responsible AI across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering/AI with 8+ years in AI/ML leadership.
• At least 3 years of people leadership experience.
• Experience deploying scalable and responsible AI on cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Oversee AI software components including training, inference, guardrails, and observability.
• Make build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
• Invent state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques for production scale AI systems.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap.
• Attract and retain top AI talent and mentor the team.
