Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Sr. Manager, AI Engineer to lead the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team in Cambridge, MA.

You will oversee AI software components including foundation model training, inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability, delivering scalable production AI systems. You will attract and retain top AI talent, translate enterprise goals into roadmaps, and collaborate with Research, Data, and Platform teams

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree with 4–6+ years in AI/ML development
At least 1 year of people leadership experience
Experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms
Familiarity with LLMs, vector databases, and model governance

Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products
Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components
Make build-vs-buy decisions across OSS and SaaS AI technologies
Invent optimization techniques for large-scale AI systems
Contribute to long-term AI systems roadmap
Mentor and develop team members
Translate enterprise AI goals into actionable roadmaps
Operationalize Responsible AI with gates and governance
Collaborate with Research, Data, and Platform teams to accelerate model lifecycle
