Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Sr. Manager, AI Engineer to lead the IFX team in building responsible and scalable AI systems for banking. The role focuses on cross‑functional leadership, foundation model optimization, and governance across production AI platforms.

You will guide architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and align AI initiatives with business outcomes while staying ahead of AI research trends. Location: Cambridge, MA; McLean, VA; New York; San Jose.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree + ≥6 years in AI/ML development
Master's degree + ≥4 years in AI/ML development
At least 1 year of people leadership experience
3 years of experience managing and leading an engineering team
6 years of experience deploying scalable AI on cloud platforms

Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional engineers, scientists, PMs to deliver AI-powered products.
Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support AI software components.
Make build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
Invent and apply foundation model optimization techniques for performance and cost.
Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems.
Attract and retain top AI talent and mentor team members.
Foster learning and stay abreast of AI research and industries best practices.
Translate enterprise AI goals into actionable roadmaps with measurable outcomes.
