Job summary

MISO seeks a bold Director of Software Engineering and Architecture to transform how we design, build, deliver, and operate mission-critical software at scale. You will shape engineering vision, translate priorities into roadmaps, and lead a high-performing, diverse team in a regulated environment.

The role focuses on AI-native practices, secure delivery, and reliable performance across complex portfolios, with a strong emphasis on collaboration with Digital Technology and enterprise functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive software engineering and architecture experience including leadership roles.
• Experience implementing and scaling AI-native engineering practices.
• Proven ability to define and execute engineering/architecture strategy for complex portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute a Software Engineering and Architecture strategy aligned with enterprise priorities.
• Set governance, investment priorities, and success metrics for AI-native software delivery.
• Establish solution architecture practices and standards early in the product lifecycle.
• Partner with Product Management to align roadmaps with priorities and risks.
• Provide financial and vendor stewardship including budget planning and investments.
• Develop and retain an inclusive, high-performing department through coaching and succession planning.
• Sponsor evolution of enterprise platforms including agentic AI software delivery, CI/CD, and SRE.
• Drive application modernization, architectural evolution, and debt remediation for long-term resiliency and security.
• Serve as a senior technology partner influencing major technology decisions.
