Job summary

Superior is seeking a Director of Accounting to oversee controllership functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Payroll at our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. The role reports to the CFO and commands a pay range of $150,000–$180,000.

The candidate will ensure GAAP compliance, manage accounting teams, and support audits, tax activities, and financial reporting for a Fortune 500 parent company environment.

Qualifications

• Ten+ years of experience in corporate accounting.
• CPA certification.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Experience guiding and developing accounting teams.
• MBA is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, GL, Payroll).
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and assist with regulatory reporting.
• Identify variances and financial trends; drive process improvements.
• Support audits and tax activities; ensure timely monthly reconciliations.
• Coordinate with external auditors and MasTec teams for year-end reporting.

Position: Director of Accounting

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Pay Range: $150,000 - $180,000

We take into consideration a number of factors when preparing a compensation package for successful candidates, such as market location, experience, skills, and education.

Superior is looking for a Director of Accounting to oversee and manage our controllership functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Payroll. This role is based at our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Payroll
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and assist with regulatory reporting, as applicable
• Identify and address variances and financial trends
• Find ways to continuously improve internal accounting processes
• Support quarterly and annual financial audit and tax activities
• Oversee the completion of monthly account reconciliations
• Partner with external auditors to ensure a successful closing and reporting at year-end
• Assist with managing the company's cash flow and liquidity
• Drive a high level of compliance with GAAP
• Interpret SOX guidelines to ensure accurate controls and segregation of duties are in place to meet compliance
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including payroll, sales and use, and income tax filings
• Partner with parent company MasTec's accounting and finance teams to support financial reporting and other accounting requirements within a Fortune 500 publicly traded company environment

Your Expertise

• Required: You have at least 10 years of experience in corporate accounting
• Required: You earned your bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Required: You are a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Required: You have prior experience managing and developing direct reports and accounting teams
• Required: You have strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
• Bonus Points: You have earned your MBA
• Bonus Points: You have accounting or finance experience within the construction industry
