Job description

The Director of Nursing position is a 12-month administrative position. The Director directs the Department of Nursing and is an advocate for innovative vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the academic programs, faculty, and staff. This position provides leadership to fulfill the educational needs of students, promote the enhancement of instructional quality, service, and scholarship, and develop organizational strategies for growth and change in the educational environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day‑to‑day operations of the department.
  • Supervise all programs offered by the department.
  • Develop course schedules and make faculty course assignments.
  • Supervise and evaluate department faculty and staff.
  • Manage the departmental budget.
  • Advise students and review and update departmental curricula.
  • Hire and supervise adjunct faculty.
  • Work toward the resolution of student complaints.
  • Lead the process to pursue or maintain program accreditation.
  • Serve on college committees.
  • Oversee planning and assessment activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Represent the college as a member of local, state, and national organizations and facilitate collaborations with the local healthcare community.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and approved by the College with a master’s degree in nursing.
  • Two years related full‑time teaching or administrative experience.
  • Current, active, unencumbered Florida registered nurse license or a multi‑state license approved by the Nurse Licensure Compact inclusive of Florida.
  • Successful results of a criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Compliance with §435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations; failure to meet these requirements disqualifies a candidate.
  • AF DLE‑approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate; disclosure of adverse information in the background investigation disqualifies a candidate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and approved by the College.
  • Administrative work experience within an academic setting.
  • Experience in curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Experience with national accreditation requirements.
Salary Range

$75,000.00 – $85,000.00 depending on qualifications and experience.
