Blue Origin seeks a Director to lead the development of next-generation satellite ground RF gateways, overseeing hardware, embedded software, systems integration, and production readiness. You will manage a multidisciplinary team across hardware architecture, firmware, and manufacturing transfer at a contract manufacturer.

The role emphasizes secure boot, device provisioning, field updates, telemetry, diagnostics, and relentless focus on reliability, manufacturability, and cost.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in hardware and embedded systems development with leadership experience.
• Proven ability to bring complex hardware products from prototype to mass production.
• Experience with contract manufacturers and design transfer to manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware, embedded software, and systems engineering teams to develop rugged terminals.
• Define product architecture across RF, digital, power, thermal, and mechanical domains.
• Drive design for manufacturability, testability, reliability and cost between prototype and high-volume production.
• Partner with manufacturing and supply chain to transfer designs to contract manufacturers.
• Establish program plans, milestones, risk management, and cross-functional coordination.
• Own system-level integration, bring-up, debugging, and validation strategies for hardware and firmware.
• Ensure embedded software supports secure boot, provisioning, updates, telemetry, diagnostics, and factory tests.
• Mentor engineers and manage external partners and test labs.
