Blue Origin in Seattle, WA is hiring a Director to lead the development of a next‑generation satellite payload. You will head hardware, firmware, and systems engineering teams to deliver rugged, high‑performance terminals and manage the transition from prototype to high‑volume production.

You will oversee product architecture across RF, digital, and power domains, ensuring secure boot, provisioning, and field updates.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in hardware and embedded systems development, with 6+ years leading technical teams.
• Proven success bringing complex connected hardware from prototype to mass production.
• Strong background in RF design, embedded systems, board design, system integration, and production test.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware, embedded software, and systems engineering teams developing compact, rugged terminals.
• Define product architecture across RF, digital, power, thermal, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing domains.
• Drive execution from prototype to high-volume production, including design for manufacturability and testability.
• Partner with manufacturing and supply chain to select components, qualify suppliers, and transfer designs to manufacturing.
• Establish program plans, milestones, risk management, and cross-functional coordination.
• Own system-level integration, bring-up, debugging, and validation strategy.
• Ensure embedded software supports secure boot, provisioning, telemetry, and factory tests.
• Build and mentor a high-performing team of engineers and technical leads.
• Manage external partners, including contract manufacturers and labs.
• Create and maintain engineering processes for requirements management, change control, verification, and release readiness.
