Job summary

College of the Sequoias invites applications for the MESA Academic Coach at the Visalia Campus. Under the Director, Mathematics, Engineering Science Achievement Program, the coach coordinates, plans and implements activities to promote student success in STEM and supports advising and tutoring.

The part-time, 12-month position offers afternoon/evening hours (Mon-Thu 2:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.) with initial pay at $28.63 per hour.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in physical science, physics, engineering, chemistry or biology or related field OR
• Completion of major coursework in any of the areas listed above.
• Experience working with post-secondary school aged students in an educational setting and experience providing tutoring or supplemental instruction is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate MESA Study Center activities during regular, night and weekend hours.
• Plan, prepare and deliver outreach presentations, orientation sessions and tutoring to help students achieve educational goals.
• Assist with on/off campus activities and programs to provide information and assistance on academic and financial support services.
• Assist with financial aid processes and reviewing applications to ensure accuracy.
