College of the Desert seeks an Interim Director of Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) in Palm Desert, CA. The role oversees the MESA program within the School of Mathematics & Sciences under the Office of Instruction, with a salary range of $120,688.56 to $174,772.80 annually.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, securing grants, coordinating student support services, and promoting STEM initiatives district-wide.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required; leadership experience in delivering academic services to mathematics-based fields

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff within the area of responsibility, plan, organize, staff, lead, coordinate, and control activities of the MESA program and related STEM initiatives.
• Develop and implement program goals, policies, procedures, and evaluation processes.
• Assist in budget preparation, grants research and administration, including reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with STEM faculty and statewide leadership to ensure alignment with statewide guidelines and program success.
• Oversee tutoring, advising, and enrichment programs to support student progress and outcomes.
• Coordinate admissions, financial aid, scholarships, internships, and partnerships with schools and industry.
• Organize internships, field trips, guest speakers, and outreach; represent MESA at events to promote participation.
• Prepare timely internal and statewide MESA reports and maintain program records for accountability.
• Develop and maintain policies and grant compliance, including preparing proposals and managing awarded grants.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret program data to evaluate effectiveness and drive improvement.
• Provide supervision and professional development to staff; conduct performance evaluations.
