The Director, Membership Sales leads a portion of the Membership Growth Team (MGT) focused on driving membership sales measured by market share. They are focused on recruiting active licensed dentists practicing in NC as members of NCDS. The Director and their team live the “future member” mentality prioritizing new and key cohorts through disciplined assessment, prospecting, targeting, and closing techniques. They initiate and collaborate on marketing strategy and tactics accordingly. In addition to market share of active licensed dentists, success is also measured by engagement and conversion of totally new members in key cohorts including New to NC and recent grads. The Director and team are active and present across the state at NCDS and other events. Director and Team set and oversee comprehensive marketing plan focused on recruitment (first) and retention. The Director manages individual and team incentive plan, under the direction of Chief Sales, Growth, and Innovation Officer and Chief Executive Officer. Position reports to the Chief Sales, Growth, and Innovation Officer.
Responsibilities
- Work with staff and volunteer leaders to develop, implement, and maintain robust and data-driven recruitment plan with focus on market share of active licensed dentists.
- Research and understand ongoing needs and wants of future member dentists.
- Assess research identifying opportunities to create increased value for future members.
- Procure and maintain accurate future member data and segment accordingly.
- Data-driven approach creating prospecting, targeting, and closing totally new members.
- Intentionally engage and target, along with identified current members - Champions, prospective members using customized tactics.
- Set and achieve recruitment and market share goals by cohort.
- Create, maintain, and execute comprehensive, intentional strategic marketing plan that improves membership recruitment and retention. Utilize multiple channels including direct mail, digital communications, social media, video, media, animation, graphics, website, etc.
- Spend 25%+ of time in the field, driving engagement, and membership of new members. Maximize Fridays in field given dentist schedules.
- Finalize, launch and oversee robust New to NC program and resources.
- Oversee Gazette on regular distribution schedule. Learn, segment, and adapt, with focus on recruitment.
- Incorporate and maximize membership-related activities, events, member-facing technology platforms, and student-related events to drive market share.
- Coordinate recruitment communications with all communications across organization.
- Support and coordinate NCDS District recruitment strategies with appropriate resources, presence, and other. Assist districts with district specific marketing communications.
- Leverage NCDS Face-to-Face Engagement Plan offerings, including district meetings, statewide meetings, social events, and more focusing on pre, during, and post recruitment.
- Define new member recruitment targeted messaging to maximize new members through annual renewal process and support non-renew program with segmented information.
- Inform and manage across all departments for cohesion and continuity. Communicate membership knowledge for consistent recruitment improvements including activity, operational and budget issues, volunteer involvement and approval.
- Collaborate to maintain conversion and membership of NC dental student into members.
- Support development of sales, recruitment, marketing, and related budgets. Manage budgets or sections thereof.
- Serve as staff liaison to the Council on Membership and Committee on the New Dentist.
- Other duties as assigned and as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum: 3-5 Years Experience in Sales Leadership Roles
Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Desirable: Formalize sales training and or certification(s)
