Anthropic is seeking a Director, Technical Accounting – Investments and M&A to lead our portfolio accounting, valuation, and consolidation efforts within the Finance team. You will own strategic investments accounting, support M&A activity, and ensure GAAP-compliant reporting across the portfolio.

You will partner with Corporate Development, Legal, Tax, and FP&A to reflect investment economics accurately and prepare disclosures for quarterly and annual filings.

Qualifications

• Significant Big 4 experience, with in-house tech company exposure.
• Proven lead on complex valuations (M&A, equity/debt investments, warrants).
• Owned accounting for a portfolio of minority/strategic investments.

Responsabilités

• Handle technical accounting for investments and M&A activities from entry to exit.
• Collaborate with Corporate Development to shape investment terms and review deal documents.
• Own entry accounting for each new investment incl. ASC classifications and initial measurement.
• Run quarterly portfolio reviews and account for follow-on investments, exits, and impairments.
• Own the investment rollforward and its reconciliation to the general ledger.
• Manage third-party valuation specialists and review fair values, including Level 3 inputs.
• Assess investment components and warrants; allocate consideration with Accounting Policy.
• Support accounting for M&A transactions, including PPA reviews and adjustments.
• Draft and defend technical accounting policies; liaise with external auditors.
