Job summary

Anthropic seeks a Director of Technical Accounting – Investments and M&A to own the accounting for strategic investments, partnerships, and capital transactions, reporting to the Senior Director. You will be a key technical resource on classification, consolidation, fair value, and financial statement impact across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Significant Big 4 experience — ideally in a National Office, Transaction/Deal Advisory.
• Must possess strong understanding of US GAAP accounting for investments and M&A.

Responsibilities

• Execute technical accounting for strategic investments, JVs, partnership structures, and related financing/equity instruments from entry through exit.
• Partner with Corporate Development to review term sheets and deal documents before signing.
• Own entry accounting for new investments — ASC 321, 323, 810; VIE analysis and initial measurement memo.
• Lead quarterly portfolio reviews; account for follow-on investments, exits, and equity method changes.
• Oversee valuation specialists; review fair values, warrants, and Level 3 inputs.
• Prepare and review investment disclosures for quarterly and annual filings; present conclusions to leadership.
