Anthropic is seeking a Director, Technical Accounting – Investments and M&A to own the accounting for strategic investments, partnerships with investment components, and related capital transactions. You will collaborate with Corporate Development, Legal, Tax, and FP&A to ensure US GAAP alignment and transparent reporting.

Qualifications

• Big 4 experience with in-house tech company exposure.
• Experience leading complex valuations (M&A, warrants, Level 3 instruments).
• Ownership of portfolio investments accounting, impairment monitoring.
• Deep US GAAP knowledge for investments, consolidation, and business combinations.
• Ability to coordinate with Corporate Development, Legal, and Tax on structuring decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel/modeling.

Responsabilités

• Execute technical accounting for investments, joint ventures, and related financing/equity instruments.
• Review term sheets and deal documents before signing with Corporate Development.
• Own entry accounting for new investments under ASC 321/323/810 and VIE analysis.
• Run quarterly portfolio reviews, consideration of impairment indicators, and equity method picks.
• Manage investment rollforward and reconciliations to the general ledger.
• Coordinate third-party valuation specialists for fair value and Level 3 inputs.
• Support M&A due diligence, purchase accounting, and measurement-period adjustments.
• Prepare and defend disclosures for quarterly/annual filings; present to leadership.
• Monitor SEC developments affecting investments, consolidation, and business combinations.
