Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Program Director, Capacity Management & Throughput, to drive efficient patient flow across Baystate Medical Center. The role focuses on reducing barriers to throughput, optimizing bed capacity, and expediting admissions and discharges while ensuring safe patient movement across the continuum of care.

Reporting to the CNO and collaborating with nursing, physicians, case management and hospital administration, the ideal candidate has a strong clinical nursing

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in MA with current MA license.
• Master's degree in Nursing Administration or related field.
• 5+ years of acute hospital nursing experience.
• Certification or credentialing within 1 year of hire will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead hospital-wide patient throughput initiatives including admissions, transfers, discharges, bed placement and capacity management.
• Provide operational oversight to nursing units and round on inpatient areas to assess flow and staffing concerns.
• Escalate operational issues and ensure timely patient movement and bed turnover.
• Track key performance metrics (length of stay, discharge times, ED boarding, transfer delays).
• Collaborate with physicians, case management, ED leadership and administrative partners to optimize throughput and care progression.
