Job summary

Met Council in New York seeks a Director of Government Grants to lead strategies for securing and managing federal, state, and local funding. You will oversee proposals, post-award reporting, and compliance, coordinating with program, finance, and legal teams to align funding with organizational priorities.

The role emphasizes collaboration, rigorous grants management, and building relationships with government agencies to sustain and expand support for Met Council’s hunger and poverty programs

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred.
• 5–7 years’ grant writing experience in the Social Services not-for-profit sector, preferably in New York.
• Experience securing and managing government grants locally, state, and federal; NYC/ NYS preferred.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with government grant portals and AI tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy for securing government grant revenue at local, state, and federal levels.
• Develop, write, and submit competitive government grant applications.
• Oversee post-award reporting and compliance, including workplans, budget narratives, and renewals.
• Supervise Grants Associates and liaise with Development, program, and Finance staff.
• Maintain grant records and implement best practices to improve efficiency and compliance.
