Job summary

Azenta Life Sciences is seeking a Director of Payroll to lead and optimize all global payroll operations, including the U.S. and select international jurisdictions.

The role partners with HR, Finance, IT, and external auditors to ensure accurate, compliant payroll processing and robust internal controls. Responsibilities include governance across jurisdictions, system optimization of Workday payroll, and coordination with in-country providers to support expatriate payroll matters and year-end

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in business-related field; CPP preferred.
• Minimum 10+ years in payroll with multi-state U.S. payroll and international payroll experience.
• Experience with payroll controls, audits, and system implementations or enhancements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee bi-weekly U.S. payroll operations across 25+ states and manage UK, Germany, Switzerland, France, and other European jurisdictions via internal teams and providers.
• Lead payroll governance, calendar, and provider oversight; ensure compliance across jurisdictions.
• Partner with HR, Finance, IT, and external auditors to maintain control environments and implement process improvements.
• Support expatriate payroll/tax matters and year-end payroll activities across multiple countries.
