Job summary

Tandem Diabetes Care, Inc. is seeking a Director of Benefits to lead the Employee Benefits function across the U.S., Canada, and regions in EMEA. You will partner with HR and Finance to shape strategy and budget, drive compliance, and deliver competitive benefit offerings.

The role requires 12+ years of global benefits experience, strong leadership, and deep knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, and multi-state regulations. This hybrid position is based at our San Diego headquarters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
• PHR, SPHR or other HR-related certifications strongly preferred.
• 12 years’ progressive experience developing, implementing, and measuring Employee Benefit programs globally.
• 5 years’ leading teams of Employee Benefits.
• Strong knowledge of self-funded insurance plans, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Compensation, unemployment, disability, and paid time off with multi-state/global experience.
• Strong knowledge of HRIS systems and MS Office applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strategic thinking and planning abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, implementation, administration, and communication of the Company’s benefits, wellness and Leave programs.
• Evaluate, select and manage relationships with vendors, brokers, and carriers, monitoring service levels and costs.
• Partner with brokers to understand market trends and assess, design, and refine the benefits strategy.
• Develop communication and education about benefits, paid time off, financial savings and Leave programs.
• Ensure compliance with ERISA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, Form 5500 filings, nondiscrimination testing and audits.
• Review and update policies for US and global regulations.
• Oversee leaf management and leave processes with HRBP team.
• Coordinate SOX compliance with internal teams.
• Ensure Privacy/HIPAA compliance and other regulatory requirements.
