Job summary

NextEra Energy Resources seeks a Director to lead E&C engagement across gas project development activities—from due diligence to construction readiness within NextEra's federal hub portfolio. This high-visibility, cross-functional role requires disciplined budget, scope and schedule management, risk identification, and team leadership.

You will drive technology evaluation, risk frameworks, and procurement coordination with ISC/OEMs, ensuring constructability and interconnection considerations

Responsibilities

• Lead E&C due diligence on gas technology and commercial aspects across configurations (combined cycle, simple cycle, peaking).
• Identify and document E&C risks including balance-of-plant configurations, supply chain maturity, and site constraints.
• Develop and maintain E&C due diligence frameworks to support technology/configuration down-select decisions.
• Provide E&C input into OEM/contractor meetings, site visits, and technology assessments to ensure construction perspectives early.
• Coordinate with E&C SMEs to evaluate balance-of-plant and interconnection requirements (switchyard, transmission, gas/water).
• Lead Technology Review, cost estimate and project schedule development across active gas development projects.
• Own development and improvement of E&C gas project estimating and scheduling tools; reflect scope, pricing, and risk contingencies.
• Maintain a living E&C Risk Register across all active gas project work streams.
• Identify when Development-driven scope changes introduce E&C cost or schedule risk.
• Establish clear accountability at the E&C scope boundary; distinguish internal E&C risks from others.
• Coordinate E&C SME resources for site configuration reviews and risk assessments.
• Lead E&C participation in commercial offtake negotiation, site permitting, and interconnection processes.”
• Drive bid evaluation with ISC for major gas project equipment and EPC/EPCM scopes; flag material variances as risk indicators.
