Job summary

NextEra Energy Resources seeks a Director of Pipeline Engineering & Construction to lead owner-side development and execution of major natural gas transmission projects. You will supervise Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Engineers, ensuring scope, permits, contracting, procurement, and schedule performance align with company standards.

The role requires deep experience in large-scale pipelines, risk assessment, and leadership across internal and external teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering.
• 15+ years in design, permitting, construction, or management of natural gas pipelines.
• 10+ years managing major pipeline projects (greenfield/brownfield).
• 5+ years supervising project managers/engineers.
• Expertise in contract negotiations, change orders, scheduling, cost forecasting and risk evaluation.
• Fluent with 49 CFR Part 192, FERC procedures, pipeline design and construction practices.
• Willingness to travel 15–25%.
• Proficient with Word and Excel; capable with Gantt/March charts; familiar with PowerPoint, Visio, and modern AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead Project Managers and Engineers on large gas transmission projects from development to closeout.
• Define scope, design basis, estimates, schedules, contracting plans, and risk registers; resolve issues early.
• Ensure thorough project documents and effective internal/external communication; review invoices and milestones.
• Direct deployment of plans and designs coordinating with Land, Environmental, Regulatory, Procurement, and Project Controls.
• Oversee engineering oversight of routing, design reviews, and construction strategies (open cut, HDD).
• Oversee compression/facility design, logistics, HazOp reviews.
• Develop sourcing strategies for materials/equipment; manage bids, supplier selection, and change orders.
• Govern safety, quality, cost, schedule, turnover, and lessons learned.
