Designworks Talent invites applications for a Director of Florida Investigative Practice. This onsite leadership role will shape a regional forensic engineering program in Tampa or Orlando, overseeing complex investigations while growing client relationships and mentoring staff.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in structural/forensic engineering, FL PE licensure (or eligibility), strong communication, and a track record in business development and strategic planning for a regional practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or closely related field.
• PE license in Florida or ability to obtain licensure in FL.
• 10+ years in structural or forensic engineering with increasing responsibility.
• Experience leading engineering projects, mentoring staff, and managing client relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to prepare concise technical reports.
• Strong business development skills to cultivate client partnerships.
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation for travel to sites.
• Ability to travel locally with occasional regional travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead forensic engineering investigations involving structural damage, failures, deterioration and defects.
• Oversee facility condition assessments and building evaluations.
• Investigate structural failures and building performance issues.
• Review technical findings and ensure high‑quality engineering reports.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering staff.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients.
• Develop and execute a strategic business development plan for the Florida market.
• Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients.
• Identify opportunities for new projects and market expansion.
• Lead client presentations, interviews and proposal development.
• Represent the firm within the engineering and construction community.
• Drive client satisfaction and long‑term partnerships.
• Help establish and execute the long‑term strategy for the Florida Investigative practice.
• Mentor, coach, and develop engineering staff; recruit and retain top talent.
• Manage project profitability, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
