Job summary

Macy's is seeking a Director of Maintenance to lead and mentor maintenance teams across its distribution centers. The role requires deep expertise in mechanical, electrical, and automation systems, plus budget stewardship and strategic collaboration with operations to optimize material handling and asset reliability.

The ideal candidate will drive safety, efficiency, and standardization across a large-scale network.

Qualifications

• Leads and develops executive and front-line maintenance teams.
• Manages mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and automation systems.
• Oversees maintenance budget and cost controls.
• Collaborates with operations to plan supply chain strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of executive and front-line colleagues to maintain all facility, site, and material handling equipment in a fast-paced, large-scale distribution environment.
• Provide oversight and act as the facility SME for mechanical systems, fire protection, electrical, plumbing, automation equipment, MHE, conveyors, and control systems.
• Execute maintenance and housekeeping budget planning; own the departmental budget and deliver results through financial controls.
• Collaborate with facility operational teams to plan and execute supply chain strategies.
• Recommend plans to enhance operations through material handling systems and equipment.
• Promote procedures that improve building and equipment reliability, safety and efficiency.
• Advocate for new technology rollout and maintain ownership with the maintenance team.
• Implement CMMS to support preventative and predictive maintenance; document activities and asset histories.
