Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Seattle is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead the external API developer portal for our strategic partners. You will drive adoption of technical methods across teams and help keep the firm at the forefront of industry trends and practices.

You will shape cross-functional delivery, governance, and security while guiding senior stakeholders and engineering leaders toward scalable, reliable API platforms and AI-enabled workflows.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts; 10+ years applied experience.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing REST and GraphQL APIs.
• In-depth experience with one or more API Gateways for traffic and security.
• Proficient knowledge of React UI development for scalable interfaces.
• Demonstrated ability to influence across matrixed organizations and deliver value at scale.
• Experience leading multi-organization adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering models; governance and measurement.
• Deep understanding of responsible AI risk, controls, and resiliency/security at scale.
• Experience leading complex projects covering design, testing, and operational stability.
• Experience hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
• Extensive practical cloud native experience.

Responsibilities

• Leads external Partner API developer portal delivery for high-value customers to onboard to banking APIs and integrate with JPMorgan Chase.
• Collaborates with Product Management and Design to drive intuitive and robust API access aligned to business objectives.
• Fosters cross-team collaboration to expose B2B capabilities to Partners across the API value chain.
• Sets strategy for AI-enabled engineering, SDLC/TLM automation, and governance across departments.
• Uses enterprise tools to drive cross-domain reuse and measurable capacity unlocks.
• Provides leadership to teams across platforms, divisions, and lines of business.
• Interfaces with senior leaders and executives to drive consensus on priorities.
• Manages multiple stakeholders and large cross-product collaborations.
• Influences peers and senior stakeholders across business, product, and tech teams.
