Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead the external API developer portal for strategic partners within Consumer and Community Banking. You will drive adoption, governance, and cross-functional execution across product, design, and engineering to enable secure banking APIs and scalable delivery.

The role requires extensive cloud-native experience, leadership across matrixed teams, and deep expertise in REST/GraphQL APIs, API Gateways, and AI-enabled SDLC

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience.
• 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage complex items.
• Proven experience in designing REST and GraphQL APIs with best practices.
• Experience with one or more API Gateways and API traffic security.
• Proficient React UI development for scalable interfaces.
• Leadership in matrixed organizations and cross-domain value delivery.
• Experience leading agentic AI-enabled engineering and governance.
• Understanding of responsible AI risk, controls, and security at scale.
• Experience leading complex projects with design, testing, and reliability.
• Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
• Extensive practical cloud native experience.

Responsibilities

• Leads external facing Partner API developer portal delivery for high-value customers.
• Collaborates with PM and Design to ensure intuitive API access aligned to business goals.
• Supports end-to-end API value chain and cross-team collaboration.
• Sets strategy for AI-enabled engineering, SDLC automation, and release governance.
• Applies SDLC toolchain knowledge to drive cross-domain reuse and capacity.
• Provides leadership across multiple platforms, divisions, and lines of business.
• Interfaces with senior leaders to drive consensus and align objectives.
• Manages stakeholders, projects, and large cross-product collaborations.
• Influences peer leaders across business, product, and technology teams.
