Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Director of Embedded Control Systems Engineering to provide strategic and technical leadership for embedded controls across drivetrain, braking, steering, and integrated systems.

You will oversee diverse teams of controls and embedded software engineers and set development standards to deliver world-class solutions. The role emphasizes delivering technology roadmaps, collaborating with product groups, and ensuring governance, quality, and cybersecurity throughout

Qualifications

• Experience in embedded software, controls engineering, or product development environments.
• Significant leadership experience managing engineering teams or units.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, architecture, verification, and release processes.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term strategy for embedded controls and software solutions for drivetrain, braking, steering, and integrated systems.
• Lead global teams of Embedded Software Engineers and Software Engineers.
• Establish software architecture standards and development processes.
• Drive development, integration, and validation of embedded software across Caterpillar products.
• Partner with product, systems, validation, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure delivery.
• Develop and maintain technology roadmaps for software and controls.
• Ensure compliance with quality, reliability, cybersecurity, and safety requirements.
• Oversee requirements management, verification/validation, release planning, and integration.
• Manage budgets, workforce planning, and organizational design.
