Job summary

Umbilical Advanced is seeking an experienced Director of Data Center Development & Construction to lead ground-up, hyperscale projects from entitlement through delivery. You will align site development, design, construction and commissioning with strategic objectives.

You will manage budgets, schedules, procurement and contracts while directing consultants, GCs and design teams. The role requires strong leadership, communication and a proven track record in high-density data centers.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of construction and/or real estate development experience.
• Experience managing the full development lifecycle, from site/entitlement through construction and closeout.
• Strong understanding of data center design, construction and high-density MEP environments.
• Experience managing major GCs, consultants and design/engineering teams.
• Strong commercial understanding of budgets, schedules, contracts and risk.
• Experience with data center entitlement and permitting.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Director, Data Center Development & Construction

We’re seeking an experienced Director of Data Center Development & Construction to lead the delivery of large-scale, mission-critical data center projects from site development and entitlement through design, construction, commissioning, and closeout.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a proven data center professional with hyperscale experience and a track record of delivering ground-up data center developments.

What You’ll Do

• Lead ground-up hyperscale data center projects from entitlement through construction and closeout
• Manage project budgets, schedules, procurement, contracts and delivery
• Lead consultants, design teams, GCs and key project stakeholders
• Oversee bidding, contract negotiation, construction execution and project closeout
• Manage permitting, entitlements, risk, quality and project reporting
• Partner with senior leadership on development strategy, financial analysis and project performance

What We’re Looking For

This role is specifically targeted toward candidates with proven hyperscale data center experience.

• 10+ years of construction and/or real estate development experience

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, business or related field
• PMP or CCM certification
• Experience with P6, Aconex, Yardi, Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud
• Experience with data center sustainability initiatives

A hands-on data center development leader who has taken hyperscale, ground-up projects from land and entitlement through construction and delivery.

You know how to lead complex teams, manage major GCs, navigate permitting, and keep technically demanding projects on schedule and budget.
