Job summary

Akamai invites a Field Technology Director to engage with Defense and Intelligence customers as a security evangelist, representing Security and Defense Edge solutions to DoD, IC, and COCOMs. You translate product capabilities into mission outcomes for federal offices.

Lead cross‑functional teams, build a DoD/IC customer community for roadmap feedback, and speak at defense events while advancing Zero Trust, AI Runtime Defense, and edge security in mission environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of cybersecurity experience with a background in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience engaging with field teams, customers, partners, and C‑Suite/government stakeholders to drive product strategy.
• Expert in edge-native security and Zero Trust architecture.
• Secure distributed workloads by enforcing Zero Trust and addressing emerging threats in diverse environments.
• Knowledge of DoD Cloud Security Guide IL4/IL5/IL6, FedRAMP High, ICD 705, and CMMC requirements.
• Experience evangelizing cybersecurity and defense initiatives across the public sector.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for security and Defense Edge products with DoD/IC accounts.
• Build a community of DoD/IC customers for feedback on roadmaps and capability priorities.
• Lead engagements with journalists and Industry Analysts for PR/AR efforts.
• Discuss defense-focused security trends at events like AFCEA TechNet and AUSA.
• Educate customer-facing teams on Zero Trust, AI Runtime Defense, and related trends.
• Translate product capabilities into mission outcomes for DoD/IC offices.
• Support capture and proposal teams as a named SME on high-priority Defense Edge opportunities.
