Job summary

Core Specialty Insurance Services, Inc. is seeking a Director of Data Engineering to lead the evolution of a large-scale data platform. The role blends hands-on solution architecture with strategic leadership, guiding data pipelines, governance, and AI/ML readiness across cloud data platforms.

You will manage a team of data engineers, set technical direction, and partner with the VP to execute a scalable roadmap that aligns with company data strategies and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field
• 10+ years experience in data engineering with large-scale platforms
• 3+ years in an architect role with ownership of solution designs
• 3+ years in leadership managing data engineering teams
• Experience enabling AI/ML data readiness and governance
• Balance hands-on delivery with strategic planning and mentoring

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical evolution of a large-scale data platform with focus on architecture, performance, and scalability
• Act as the lead data engineering solution architect for initiatives
• Design and prototype platform components for high-risk projects
• Define and maintain AI/ML readiness for data assets
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to set technical standards
• Manage and mentor data engineers and plan resource allocation
• Stay current with trends in data engineering and streaming technologies
