Job summary

WM is seeking a Director of Corporate Engineering to provide strategic and operational leadership across landfill operations, renewable energy assets, and environmental compliance initiatives. You will set engineering standards, drive capital planning, and align engineering activities with safety, sustainability, regulatory, and financial objectives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience focused on solid waste and landfills.
• Experience managing large-scale capital projects and engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of engineering design, construction, asset management, and project execution.
• Demonstrated success partnering with operations and executive leadership teams.
• Strong financial, analytical, and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly processes for Landfill Capital projects reviewed by WM investment committee.
• Manage WM’s Engineer Training Program, including recruitment and program oversight.
• Provide technical support for Enterprise Risk and Wastewater Solutions teams.
• Manage P&L for the Corporate Engineering Team totaling about $3.5M annually.
• Lead a 10-person team with budgeting and forecasting for LF Capital and Final Capping.
