El Paso Community College seeks a leader to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate non-credit educational programs within the Division of Continuing Education, Business & Technical Education & Personal Enrichment Programs. This on-campus role requires directing faculty, staff and students while building partnerships with community and state agencies.

The candidate will develop strategic plans, manage budgets, schedule courses, and ensure compliance with licensing standards.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree and four (4) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the institution including the public.
  • Experience leading and managing personnel, including faculty and staff, and delegating tasks.

Job description

Plan, direct, develop, implement, and evaluate non-credit educational programs and courses for the Division of Continuing Education, Business & Technical Education & Personal Enrichment Programs. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position. Identify needs of the community. Plan, develop, implement, manage, and evaluate Continuing Education training and service offerings to the community. Provide direction to faculty, staff and students. Mediate faculty, staff, or student conflicts.

Establish and maintain relationships with business, community, educational institutions and local, state, and federal agencies. Participate in professional and community activities at the local, state, and national levels. Establish and maintain relationships with academic deans to provide alternative course offerings to the community.

Develop, recommend, and implement short and long range strategic operational and instructional plans and related policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with sponsoring agencies, federal, and state standards. Implement approved programs and recommend modifications or changes.

Develop and manage class schedules and activities. Hire faculty, assign classrooms, review and order textbooks, order instructional supplies and equipment. Promote and market course offerings.

Develop budget recommendations and manage approved budget. Monitor equipment and inventories for multiple programs.

Maintain records and statistics to comply with state licensing and certification requirements.

Manage activities of assigned staff, including recommendation for employment, supervision, performance evaluation, guidance, professional development training, and compliance with policies and regulations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  1. Master's Degree and four (4) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  2. Experience building educational programs and courses.
  3. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Strong analytical skills.
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the institution to include the public.
  6. Experience leading and managing personnel, including faculty and staff, and delegating tasks and authority.
  7. Experience developing and conducting presentations.
  8. Experience developing and executing budgets.

NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.

  1. This is a security-sensitive position as defined under the Texas Education Code, Section 51.215; the successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal background check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College’s policies and procedures.

Out-of-town candidates invited for an on-campus interview will be reimbursed for one-half of the transportation cost for travel performed within the United States. The College will arrange and pay for up to two nights lodging.
